Bio
Hailing from
the rural suburbs of New England, cutting his teeth on the
edgy eclectic music scenes stretching between Boston Ma,
and Providence RI, this virtual unknown melodic shred
guitar player knew he was on the right track when he was
awarded the coveted "Berklee Performance Scholarship" in
1991. After attending Berklee College of Music and studying
with such renowned teachers as Jon Finn, Hal Crook and Mike
Williams, Scott went on in pursuit of a record deal with
his original rock/metal band TYKA. In 1994, after releasing
their self-titled 4 song EP and supporting it with
performances all throughout the New England area, the
band's national ambitions darkened; the 'Seattle/Grunge
Scene' exploded onto the record industry radar and the
music business changed overnight. Guitar Solo-centric
prog-blues metal was buried. It was in 1996 that Motyka
released an instrumental EP entitled, "Local-motive"; a
self-produced instrumental effort containing 4 original
tracks ranging from Satriani-like melodic rock to
Neo-classical metal and 70's fusion. Not until more than a
decade later, in 2009, did Scott release his next solo
album called "CUT.. ...FROM WITHIN." On this recording one
hears a close to the heart, hard-hitting collection of
old-school instrumental shred rock that brings together
melodic shred guitar, blues rock, and prog-metal elements.
In 2010, Motyka has re-emerged and is fighting the battle
for your mind, one note at a time. With latest release in
hand and supporting power trio on deck, he asks the faint
of heart to dare listen with courage, for his musical
message just may be.. ...the sound of everything you believe,
becoming a lie. To hear Scott's new album and read more
